Wakefield Trinity Victory and Fan Appreciation Shine in Rugby League News

Doncaster RLFC Praise Wakefield Trinity Supporters After Convincing Victory (26th March 2023)

In a Rugby League Championship match played on 25th March 2023, Wakefield Trinity secured a comfortable 42-6 victory over Doncaster RLFC at the Doncaster Community Stadium. Despite Doncaster’s promising start to the season, they were soundly defeated by a Luke Gale-inspired Wakefield side that appears poised to challenge for the title this year.

Following the game, Wakefield Trinity shared a tweet that included a message from the Doncaster club, which read:

“Can I put on record how much of a pleasure it was to host the Wakefield support, who numbered 1,385. They were a delight to have at our stadium, and numerous members of staff have commented on how polite, respectful, good-humored and gracious the Wakefield supporters were. They were a credit to their club, and we would be delighted to welcome them back at any time.”

This positive message about rugby league fans is certainly heartening to hear. The attendance of 1,385 Wakefield supporters is an incredibly impressive number, accounting for over half of the overall attendance of 2,520 at the Doncaster Community Stadium.

Wakefield Trinity have made an excellent start to the 2023 Rugby League Championship season, winning three out of their first three matches. They began the campaign with a resounding 42-12 victory over the Bradford Bulls at Belle Vue, followed by a hard-fought 20-12 win over Featherstone Rovers at Post Office Road.

The comfortable win against Doncaster RLFC has given Wakefield Trinity six points from a possible six in the RFL Championship. They also stand just 80 points away from a Wembley final, with a 1895 Cup semi-final at Odsal to look forward to in May after finishing top in the group stage and beating Barrow Raiders in the quarter-final.

However, Wakefield Trinity did suffer a 14-10 defeat against Featherstone Rovers in a mud bath Challenge Cup game, a result that will serve as a reminder that the road to success in the Rugby League Championship is never an easy one.

As Wakefield Trinity continue their push for the title, the positive relationship between the club and its loyal supporters will undoubtedly be a crucial factor in their quest for success this season.
