Doncaster Welcomes Back Winger Bureta Faraimo for 2024 Season

Championship club Doncaster re-sign experienced winger Bureta Faraimo

Doncaster have re-signed experienced winger Bureta Faraimo for the remainder of the 2024 season. The USA international linked up with the Dons following his departure from Super League side Castleford Tigers towards the back end of last season, making a solitary appearance as they clinched promotion to the Championship from League 1.

Faraimo, who has been without a club for the early stages of 2024, has now put pen to paper on a contract that will see him return to Doncaster for the rest of the current campaign. The 33-year-old winger brings a wealth of experience to the Dons, having made more than 130 appearances across the NRL and Super League between 2014 and 2023.

Faraimo could feature for Doncaster in Sunday’s trip to Widnes Vikings in the Championship. The New Zealand-born winger came through the ranks at NRL side New Zealand Warriors before moving to Australia in 2011 after signing for Mackay Cutters in the Queensland Cup. Faraimo is eligible to play for the United States via his family heritage, making his international debut for the nation at the 2013 Rugby League World Cup.

Following an impressive World Cup campaign with the USA, Faraimo was snapped up by NRL side Parramatta Eels on a two-year deal. He made his NRL debut for the Eels in 2014 and went on to play 15 first-grade games for Parramatta over three seasons, scoring nine tries.

The Wellington-born winger returned to the Warriors in 2017 but didn’t play an NRL game for the club, and made the move over to Super League in 2017 with Hull FC.

Faraimo went on to score 43 tries in 87 appearances for Hull over the course of four seasons before moving to Castleford ahead of the 2022 season. The USA international, who has played in two World Cups, scored 15 tries in 35 games for the Tigers before departing and joining Doncaster, where he has now returned for the rest of 2024.
