Wakefield Trinity Set for Super League Return with IMG Restructuring

Wakefield Trinity Poised for Super League Return in 2025 Under IMG’s Remodeling

The mood suggests that Wakefield Trinity are headed for a Super League comeback in 2025 as part of IMG’s remodeling of rugby league. Despite being relegated to the Championship, Wakefield have experienced great on-field success, losing just one game this season and winning the 1895 Cup at Wembley Stadium.

Off the field, Daryl Powell’s side has also made significant strides. With the club’s previous ownership delivering an improved and upgraded Belle Vue before a recent sale, Trinity appear primed for a Super League return in all aspects. Their crowds have caught attention in the Championship, and their redeveloped stadium has further enhanced the club’s readiness.

Wakefield’s home attendances this season have been impressive, averaging 6,155 across six Championship fixtures. This figure puts them above three current Super League teams in London Broncos, Huddersfield, and Salford, and just behind the likes of Castleford and Leigh. Encouragingly, this represents a significant increase from their previous seasons, with the last time Wakefield averaged higher than 6,155 being in 2013.

If Wakefield’s anticipated Super League return materializes in 2025, they will do so with a stronger platform and greater potential for success than perhaps ever before in the summer era.
