Wakefield Trinity’s Cam Scott Responds to Contract Speculations

Wakefield Trinity’s New Signing Cam Scott Addresses Critics’ Speculations

Cam Scott, Wakefield Trinity’s latest signing from Hull FC, has hit back at critics who have speculated about his contract details following his move. The 24-year-old second-row forward, who was one of the standout performers in Hull FC’s struggling squad last season, joined Trinity on a two-year deal with an option for a third year.

In a recent social media post, Scott expressed his frustration with the rumors and “unjust comments” circulating about his new contract.

“What I get paid is not common knowledge, and for people to then jump on rumors of ‘what they’ve heard’ and run to every social media outlet to post their opinion about me as a person and a player is just baffling,” he stated.

The rugby league player emphasized that everyone is entitled to their opinion, but when those opinions are based on unverified information, it becomes “ridiculous” and tells more about the individuals spreading the rumors than about Scott himself. Some fans had suggested a £250,000-per-year contract with a £5,000 win bonus, but Scott dismissed these speculations as “wild” and not reflective of the actual deal.

Despite the backlash, Scott received support from fellow players and fans alike. The Wakefield Trinity signing is the club’s third confirmed Super League recruit for the 2025 season, following the arrivals of Tom Johnstone and Mike McMeeken from Catalans Dragons.
