Wakefield Trinity Forge Dual-Registration Deal with Batley Bulldogs for 2025 Season

Wakefield Trinity Announce Dual-Registration Partnership with Batley Bulldogs for 2025 Season

In a move common in the rugby league landscape, newly-promoted Super League outfit Wakefield Trinity have announced a dual-registration agreement with Championship side Batley Bulldogs for the 2025 season. This partnership will allow players from both clubs to feature for one another, providing valuable game time and development opportunities.

The dual-registration rule, introduced in 2013, enables players to be eligible to play and train with both clubs. However, they are restricted to featuring in a single fixture per scheduled round in any given week, ensuring they do not compete for both teams over the same weekend.

For Wakefield, this deal represents a continuation of their former dual-registration arrangements, which have included partnerships with Oldham and Dewsbury Rams in the past. The current agreement with Batley has been facilitated through the connection between Trinity’s new signing and Batley head coach, Mark Moxon, who hails from Wakefield and grew up supporting the club.

“Wakefield seem to be doing everything right at the moment with the whole club doing exceptionally well last year and earning their place back in Super League. They have put together a very strong squad for 2025, and we look forward to working closely with them.”

Wakefield’s Recruitment Manager, Ste Mills, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the benefits of the dual-registration agreement for both clubs. “Our players will gain valuable playing time and experience, and this is another pathway for our younger players to become Super League players.”

This partnership is expected to prove mutually beneficial, as Wakefield’s fringe players gain competitive game time in the Championship, while Batley has the opportunity to bolster their squad with Super League-caliber talent.
