Super League Transfer Market Buzz: NRL Stars Making Moves

Clubs Assess Squads and Prepare for Super League Transfer Activity

As the Super League season heads into the international break, clubs are using this opportunity to assess their squads and potentially enter the transfer market to finalize their roster changes for the upcoming stretch run. In recent weeks, several high-profile NRL names have been linked with moves to the Super League, and the upcoming transfer activity is shaping up to be quite eventful.

Jared Waerea-Hargreaves and Tom Burgess have already confirmed their moves to Hull KR and Huddersfield Giants, respectively, as clubs look to complete their business early for the 2024 season. Meanwhile, the Wests Tigers are believed to be seeking to offload players such as John Bateman, Jayden Sullivan and Brent Naden, while Canberra Raiders’ Elliot Whitehead is set to return to the Catalans Dragons in 2025, alongside Luke Keary.

“Reports suggest that another Canberra player may be set to join the Super League as well.”

According to the Canberra Times, the Catalans Dragons are leading the race to sign Nick Cotric, whose contract with the Raiders is set to expire at the end of the current season. The Dragons have reportedly offered Cotric a three-year deal to join the club in Perpignan for the 2025 campaign.

The Catalans Dragons are in the market for a winger after losing both of their starting options in the offseason. Tom Johnstone will return to Wakefield Trinity, and Tom Davies will join Hull KR. The club has already filled one of these vacancies by signing Tommy Makinson from St Helens, but they are still seeking to fill the remaining spot. Cotric, who has 62 tries in 148 NRL appearances, including three tries in seven games this year, has emerged as a top target for the Dragons.
