Hull KR Excels in 2024 Season with Contract Extension for Star Winger

Hull KR Enjoys Exceptional 2024 Season, Extends Star Winger’s Contract

The 2024 season has been nothing short of exceptional for the Hull KR Robins. Sitting fifth in the Super League table, the team has also secured a spot in the semi-final of the prestigious Challenge Cup. This week, the Robins made a significant move in the transfer market, securing the services of Jack Broadbent from Castleford Tigers on an initial season-long loan deal.

Adding to the team’s momentum, Hull KR has now received a welcome boost with the extension of winger Joe Burgess’ contract. Burgess, who joined the Robins from Salford in the offseason, has quickly made his mark, scoring seven tries in just six appearances and forming a formidable partnership with Peta Hiku.

“I’m buzzing to be staying for two more years. I’ve been trying my hardest since I’ve started to get that. I’m really happy living over here and playing for this club, it was a no-brainer once the offer was made, I wanted to get it signed, sealed and delivered.”

Burgess expressed his delight at extending his stay at Hull KR until 2026. The winger believes the club’s culture has been instrumental in their recent success:

“Hull KR’s pushing for success and it’s a real drive for the club and for me. It’s definitely a club on the up and that’s on the back of the great work being done on the field by the players and coaching staff and off it too with the board and back office. We have a good culture here, from the boys to our kit man, Bonesy (Alan Fellows). Everyone’s working towards the same goal and that’s the attraction of the club.”

Head Coach’s Perspective

Head coach Wilie Peters echoed Burgess’ sentiments, expressing his delight at securing the winger’s services for the next couple of seasons:

“Joe (Burgess) is going to be a key player for us over the next couple of seasons. We were fortunate Joe became available in January and he’s worked extremely hard to earn this new extension with the club. An area we wanted to bring in to the club was more speed and Joe certainly brings that, our fans saw a glimpse of that against Leigh a couple of weeks back. Joe’s a really well-liked character within the group and I look forward to working with him over the next couple of seasons.”

This Friday, Hull KR will host Burgess’ former club, Wigan Warriors, at Craven Park. Burgess will be eager to celebrate his new contract by guiding his current team to victory over his former club.
