Castleford Tigers’ Jack Broadbent Joins Hull KR – Loan and Transfer News

Castleford Tigers’ Jack Broadbent Joins Hull KR on Loan

In a surprising move, Castleford Tigers’ versatile back Jack Broadbent has joined Super League rivals Hull KR on a season-long loan, with a permanent switch planned for 2025. Broadbent, who has been a key part of the Tigers’ squad since joining from the Leeds Rhinos in 2023, can cover any position in the backline and has been a regular for Castleford this season.

Speaking on the club’s website, Castleford’s Director of Rugby Operations, Danny Wilson, expressed the team’s reluctance to see Broadbent depart, stating, “We would have loved to have kept him, but he sees his future elsewhere. We completely understand.” According to Wilson, Broadbent was seeking a new challenge in his career, and the move to Craven Park provides him with that opportunity.

“Hull KR is a club heading in the right direction, pushing for the top four and trophies, and I’m really looking forward to being a part of that.”

In a swap deal, Castleford have welcomed youngster Corey Hall, who can play on the wing or at centre, on a loan deal until the end of 2024. Additionally, Louis Senior, already on loan at the Tigers, has had his move extended until the end of the season, reuniting with his brother, Innes, who has been a mainstay in Castleford’s side this year.

Broadbent expressed his excitement about the move, stating, “Hull KR is a club heading in the right direction, pushing for the top four and trophies, and I’m really looking forward to being a part of that.” The versatile back is eager to establish himself as a first-team regular at the Robins, as they look to reshape their backline following Ryan Hall’s departure.

This loan move represents a win-win situation for both clubs, as Broadbent pursues a new challenge, while Castleford Tigers and Hull KR exchange young talents to strengthen their respective squads.
