Rugby League Club Bradford Bulls Closing in on Wakefield Trinity Winger Romain Franco
In a move to bolster their position in the Championship play-off race, the Bradford Bulls are nearing a deal to sign Wakefield Trinity winger Romain Franco for the remainder of the current season, Love Rugby League has learned.
The Bulls, who are determined to strengthen their standing within the play-off places, have identified Franco as a player of interest as he continues to struggle for regular game time at league leaders Wakefield Trinity.
Franco has featured just three times for Trinity this season, including two appearances in the Challenge Cup and a single Championship outing back in April against Toulouse. This lack of playing time has opened the door for the Bulls to make a move for the player, with a loan deal now seemingly on the cards.
The French winger made his Super League debut for Wakefield last summer, scoring a try in his maiden appearance as Trinity secured a victory against Leeds Rhinos.
He went on to feature three more times during the latter stages of the 2023 campaign, but has found opportunities limited under the guidance of head coach Daryl Powell this season.
Eamon O’Carroll’s Bradford side are set to travel to Cumbria this weekend to face Barrow, eager to secure a crucial win that will keep their hopes of finishing second well and truly alive, having lost ground following a defeat to Widnes Vikings last weekend.
As the final stretch of the season approaches, a number of Championship clubs are expected to complete deals before the transfer deadline on Friday night at 11:59pm.
