Ben Hartill Joins Swinton Lions from Warrington Wolves on Loan for RFL Championship Experience

Warrington Wolves Youngster Ben Hartill Joins Swinton Lions on Loan

Warrington Wolves’ promising young player Ben Hartill has secured an initial three-week loan move to Swinton Lions, as he looks to gain valuable first-team experience in the RFL Championship. Despite not yet making his senior debut for the Wolves, the talented hooker has been a consistent performer for the club’s reserve side, featuring in all of their matches so far in 2024.

The short-term deal could potentially be extended on a week-by-week basis, allowing Hartill to continue his development with regular playing time at Swinton. The Wolves will be hoping the loan spell will provide the 20-year-old with the opportunity to showcase his skills and earn a spot in their first-team setup.

Hartill, who is the son of former Warrington and Swinton winger Dave Hartill, has progressed through the Wolves’ youth system and was named the Academy’s “most valuable player” in 2023. He also captained the Academy side last year and scored a try in their Grand Final defeat to St Helens.

“The move to Swinton Lions comes as the club looks to improve on their current RFL Championship campaign.”

Swinton have won just one of their three league games so far, with narrow defeats to Whitehaven and Widnes Vikings. However, they did provide the shock of the season by defeating title-contenders Toulouse Olympique 20-14 at the Stade Ernest-Wallon.

Swinton will be hoping the addition of the promising Hartill can help bolster their squad and provide a spark as they prepare to host Sheffield Eagles at Heywood Road on Sunday, 14th March. The Lions’ upcoming fixtures include matches against Dewsbury Rams, Halifax Panthers, and Bradford Bulls.
