Rugby League Club Featherstone Rovers Bolster 2025 Squad with Aussie Duo
Featherstone Rovers, a club in England’s Championship rugby league competition, have made two more signings for their 2025 squad, securing the services of Australian duo Toby Boothroyd and Clay Webb.
The additions of the Aussie pair come shortly after Rovers confirmed the signing of former Hull FC stalwart Carlos Tuimavave and ex-Wakefield Trinity winger Derrell Olpherts.
Toby Boothroyd
Boothroyd, a 21-year-old back-rower, joins Featherstone after spending the 2024 season at Wakefield Trinity, where he scored six tries in 11 appearances as Daryl Powell’s side swept the Championship Grand Final, League Leaders’ Shield, and 1895 Cup. Boothroyd, who came through the NRL youth systems at St George Illawarra Dragons and Cronulla Sharks, has signed a one-year contract with Rovers.
Clay Webb
Similarly, 22-year-old back-rower Clay Webb has joined James Ford’s Featherstone side on a one-year deal from Newcastle Knights, where he featured for the NRL club’s New South Wales Cup team in 2024. Webb has played for Canberra Raiders and the Knights in the NSW Cup over the last four years, making more than 60 appearances in the competition.
“We really admired what Toby brought on the field in 2024, so to be able to bring him on board for next year is great. Toby runs really strong leads and drops, finds his front and defends to a high level of detail. We’re really excited by his potential.”
— James Ford, Featherstone head coach
“He’s tough, athletic and hungry to establish himself at this level in the UK, we’re excited to welcome him to the club and see what he adds to our side, I’m sure he’ll quickly become a hit with our loyal fans.”
— James Ford, Featherstone head coach
The addition of these two Australian talents aims to bolster Featherstone Rovers’ squad as they look to build on their successful 2024 campaign and challenge for honours in the 2025 Championship season.
