York Knights Add Hull FC’s Franklin Pele on Loan Deal – NRL Recruits Making Moves

York Knights Acquire Hull FC’s Franklin Pele on Short-Term Loan

In a significant roster move, the York Knights have secured the services of Hull FC forward Franklin Pele on a short-term loan deal. Pele becomes the second NRL recruit from Hull FC to join a Championship side in the past week, following the recent loan of Jayden Okunbor to the Bradford Bulls.

The announcement was made jointly by both clubs, with York Knights and Hull FC confirming the temporary switch. In addition to Pele, young back Davy Litten has also made the move from Hull to York, with both players signing two-week deals effective immediately.

Pele, who has made eight appearances for Hull FC in the 2024 campaign, will look to gain valuable playing time with the Knights, while Litten, who has featured twice this season, will seek to build on his match fitness during the loan spell.

Hull FC’s overseas recruitment ahead of the current season had generated considerable buzz, with three forwards arriving from the NRL. However, the impact of two of these signings, Pele and Okunbor, has been limited, with only Herman Ese’ese establishing himself as a regular contributor for the club.

The short-term departures of Pele and Litten to the Betfred Championship side underline the challenges Hull FC has faced in integrating their new recruits. As the team looks to turn their season around, these loan moves may provide the necessary game time and experience for the players to make a stronger impact upon their return.
