Widnes Vikings Bolster Roster with Signing of Wigan Warriors’ Young Talent Adam Jones
In a move aimed at strengthening their roster for the 2025 season, the Widnes Vikings have announced the signing of 21-year-old outside-back Adam Jones from Wigan Warriors on a one-year contract.
Jones, who has spent the last couple of seasons representing Wigan’s reserve team, is eager to make his mark at the Championship level. Despite missing most of the 2024 campaign due to a knee injury, the young player is determined to bounce back stronger and become an established player with the Vikings.
“Adam is a good young player who comes in from Wigan Warriors, I know him well and the potential he has got is really exciting. He’s energetic and wants to play at a high level, which is exactly the kind of player I want at Widnes. He’ll bring a lot of enthusiasm to the group, and I’m looking forward to seeing the kind of player he can turn into.”
– Widnes coach Allan Coleman
Jones, who has gained valuable experience on loan with York Knights, Rochdale Hornets, and Cornwall over the past three seasons, is thrilled with the opportunity to join the Vikings.
“I’m really excited to have signed with such a great club with lots of history. After speaking to Allan (Coleman), it felt like the perfect move for me to develop my game and challenge myself in the Championship after a year out with a serious knee injury. I’m hoping to bring passion and a good work ethic to the team, and when I get the chance to play, I’ll always put my best foot forward to improve the team in any way I can.”

The signing of Adam Jones is a clear indication of Widnes Vikings’ commitment to nurturing young talent and building a competitive squad for the upcoming 2025 rugby league season.
