Rugby League Club Swinton Lions Sign Young Star Harry Higham for 2025 Season
Swinton, United Kingdom, January 1, 2025 – In a major move, the Swinton Lions have announced the signing of promising young outside-back Harry Higham for the 2025 rugby league season. The 19-year-old joins the League 1 club from Super League giants Wigan Warriors.
Higham, the son of Super League icon Micky Higham, previously played for Salford Red Devils and featured for Wigan’s reserves in 2024 after scoring three tries in as many appearances at the academy level in 2023. The young talent, who honed his skills with his local community club Leigh Miners Rangers, will bring valuable depth and versatility to Swinton coach Paul Wood’s backline, with the ability to play both center and wing.
“Hiya Swinton fans, Harry Higham here, I’m buzzing to have signed for the 2025 season, I can’t wait to rip in and see you all soon.”
Micky Higham, a former Great Britain and England hooker, enjoyed a distinguished career, making over 550 appearances between 1999 and 2009 for St Helens, Wigan, Warrington, and Leigh. He won the Super League title with St Helens and three Challenge Cups with Warrington, while also representing England at the 2008 World Cup.
The Swinton Lions, who suffered relegation from the Championship in 2024, have also signed another son of a Super League legend, Reece Briers, the son of Wales and Warrington Wolves icon Lee Briers, for the 2025 season.
