Salford Red Devils Defy Expectations, Host London Broncos in Super League Clash
Salford, UK, April 28th, 2023 (BBC Sport Rugby League) – Salford Red Devils have defied all expectations this season, remaining in the top six of the Super League table, two points ahead of their nearest rivals, Leeds Rhinos. This weekend, the Red Devils will host the London Broncos, who currently sit at the bottom of the league standings.
Salford’s first encounter with the Broncos this season was a tight affair, with the Red Devils emerging victorious 12-4 at the Cherry Red Records Stadium. However, a red card to Salford’s King Vuniyayawa saw the game end much closer than anticipated. The two sides will meet again this Sunday at the Salford Community Stadium.
Ahead of the game, Salford have suffered a blow, as two key players – full-back and vice-captain Ryan Brierley, and hooker Amir Bourouh – have been ruled out due to injury. Despite these absences, the Red Devils are still expected to secure a win against the struggling Broncos.
“London boss Mike Eccles is hoping his side can push Salford close once again, acknowledging the Red Devils’ tough and gritty style of play. Eccles praised Salford’s coaching and team unity, describing them as an entertaining team to watch.”
London captain Will Lovell is confident that his side can produce a good display, as the weather improves and the game becomes more expansive. The Broncos will be looking to build on their second-half showing against Hull KR last weekend, where they scored three tries after a disastrous first half.
