Salford Red Devils’ Coach Wins Betfred Super League Coach of the Month

Salford Red Devils Coach Paul Rowley Crowned Betfred Super League’s March Rugby League Coach of the Month

In an impressive display of rugby league excellence, Salford Red Devils’ head coach Paul Rowley has been named the Betfred Super League’s Rugby League Coach of the Month for March. This remarkable achievement is a testament to Rowley’s tactical prowess and ability to extract the best from his team, despite facing resource and squad depth challenges compared to their Super League rivals.

The highlight of Rowley’s March was undoubtedly when his Salford side defeated rugby league powerhouse St Helens 24-20 away from home, ending a 44-year drought. A late try from Dean Cross completed a historic comeback, showcasing the resilience and determination instilled by the Salford Rugby League coach.

Earlier in the month, the Reds had also brought an end to Hull KR’s unbeaten run, securing a 17-10 victory at the Salford Stadium with a brilliant display. Rowley’s team dominated possession and forced mistakes from the opposition, with two first-half tries proving the difference.

Despite facing setbacks, including a narrow defeat against Wigan Warriors and a tough loss to Hull KR in the Rugby League Challenge Cup, Salford Red Devils bounced back, beating Leigh at home on rivals’ weekend, ensuring they did not repeat the same mistake as against Wigan.

In response to his award, Rowley expressed his gratitude, stating:

“It is a privilege to receive accolades that reflect the efforts of the playing group. We have made a positive start and are committed to working hard and continuing to learn and improve as the rugby league season progresses.”

The comments from the voting panel echo the sentiments of rugby league pundits, who have praised Rowley’s ability to get the best out of his players, particularly standout performers Ryan Brierley and Marc Sneyd. Despite limited resources and squad depth compared to other Betfred Super League teams, Salford Red Devils continue to punch above their weight, playing an entertaining brand of rugby league that has captured the attention of fans and pundits alike.
