Rugby League News: Connor Wynne Extends Contract with Featherstone Rovers

Rugby League Enthusiasts Rejoice: Former Hull FC Star Connor Wynne Extends Stay with Featherstone Rovers

In a move that is sure to delight rugby league fans, former Hull FC back Connor Wynne has penned a one-year contract extension with Championship outfit Featherstone Rovers, committing his future to the club until 2025.

Wynne, who joined Fev ahead of the 2024 campaign following his departure from Hull, made an immediate impact, scoring an impressive 21 tries in 26 appearances for James Ford’s side as they reached the Championship play-offs.

The 23-year-old’s initial contract at Post Office Road was set to expire after just 12 months, but after being crowned the Fans’ Player of the Year, he has now agreed terms to extend his stay for a further year.

“I really enjoyed my first year at Featherstone and jumped at the chance to stay for another year. After leaving Hull, I wasn’t sure where I would end up next, but I’ve very much found a home at Rovers and I’ve played some of the best and most consistent rugby of my career here. I’m looking forward to building on that again in 2025.”

Wynne, who made his senior debut for boyhood club Hull just a few months after turning 18, has had previous loan spells with Doncaster, York, Newcastle Thunder and Bradford Bulls prior to his permanent move to Featherstone.

Featherstone Rovers head coach James Ford was equally thrilled with the news, praising Wynne’s growth both on and off the field and his ability to turn “half chances into tries.” Ford added:

“We’re really happy to have him on board again for 2025 and I’m sure the fans can’t wait to see him out there scoring more tries for the club.”

With Featherstone Rovers aiming to build on their 2024 play-off appearance, the retention of Connor Wynne is undoubtedly a significant boost as they look to challenge for promotion to the Super League in the upcoming season.
