Rugby League Legend Kevin Brown Hails Unparalleled Talent of Winger Ryan Hall
As a seasoned player with nearly two decades of experience at the highest level, Kevin Brown has witnessed the brilliance of numerous rugby league stars. And when it comes to singling out the best player he’s faced, the former England international has no hesitation in naming Hull KR’s prolific winger, Ryan Hall.
Speaking on the Sportsman’s The Last Tackle podcast, Brown lavished praise on Hall, who recently broke the all-time Super League try-scoring record. The veteran winger, set to return to Leeds Rhinos next season for the final year of his illustrious career, is not just a formidable try-scorer, but a complete player who excels in all facets of the game, according to Brown.
“Well for me he’s the best, he’s the best I’ve seen, he’s the best I’ve played with and against,” Brown declared. “What Ryan Hall does, you could be forgiven for thinking he’s just a try scorer when he scores 248 tries in Super League, but he’s much, much more than that.”
Beyond his remarkable try-scoring exploits, Brown highlighted Hall’s relentless work ethic, tireless defensive contributions, and the positive influence he has on his teammates, both on and off the field.
“Even at the weekend at the age he is now, he was still the first one chasing back when Esan Masters scored, pushing him into the corner,” Brown said, underscoring Hall’s unwavering commitment and all-round game.
The former Warrington Wolves and Salford Red Devils playmaker also emphasized Hall’s impressive international record, having scored 39 tries in 45 appearances for England, making him the national team’s leading try-scorer.
“The stats are fantastic,” Brown remarked. “And let’s not forget he also scored 39 tries, I believe, for England in 40 internationals. Incredible.”
With his combination of physical prowess, goal-scoring ability, and exemplary professionalism, it’s clear why Kevin Brown considers Ryan Hall to be the best player he’s faced during his illustrious rugby league career.
