Rugby League Scores: North West Dominance in Love Rugby League’s Team of the Week
The north west region has firmly stamped its authority in Love Rugby League’s Team of the Week, following the Challenge Cup semi-final clashes. With finalists Wigan Warriors and Warrington Wolves securing emphatic victories, the two clubs have collectively provided 13 players to the prestigious lineup.
Wigan cruised past Hull KR 38-6 in Doncaster on Saturday, while Warrington hammered Huddersfield 46-10 in St Helens on Sunday, setting up an all-north west final at Wembley on June 8. The one-sided nature of these results has resulted in a Team of the Week dominated by stars from the victorious Wigan and Warrington sides.
Standout Performers
“Standout performers include Australian fullback Matt Dufty, who scored two tries in Warrington’s thrashing of Huddersfield. Lebanon international Abbas Miski produced a brilliant finish for Wigan, while Papua New Guinea’s Rodrick Tai also crossed the whitewash for the Wolves. England centres Jake Wardle and Matty Ashton were instrumental in their respective teams’ victories, with the latter registering his 10th try of the Super League campaign.”
England captain George Williams was influential for Warrington, scoring a superb solo try, while teammate Danny Walker put in a workmanlike display at hooker. Wigan’s Luke Thompson and Kaide Ellis laid the platform upfront, with the latter earning praise for his consistent performances this season. Warrington’s Joe Philbin and Matty Nicholson also delivered standout displays in the pack.
