Rugby League: Leigh Leopards Bolster Roster with Loan Moves
In recent weeks, the Leigh Leopards have been actively shaping their Super League squad, announcing several signings and departures. Earlier this week, the club confirmed the arrival of David Armstrong on a three-year deal for the 2025 season.
Additionally, the Leopards have allowed a number of fringe players to leave the club on short-term loan agreements, providing them with valuable match fitness opportunities. Louis Brogan has joined Widnes on an initial two-week loan, while Keanan Brand has also departed the Leigh Leopards on a month-long loan.
The latest move sees forward Nathan Wilde join Doncaster on a one-month loan deal. Wilde, who initially joined the Leopards from Newcastle Thunder in 2023, has made 11 appearances for the club this year. However, his progress has been hampered by a serious shoulder injury. The loan move to Doncaster will allow Wilde to continue his recovery and gain much-needed match fitness.
“Nathan is another one coming back from a long-term injury, so we want him to get some match fitness. A further loan at Doncaster is a great opportunity for that.” – Leigh Leopards’ head of rugby, Chris Chester.
The Leopards’ proactive approach to managing their roster, through both strategic signings and temporary loan agreements, demonstrates their commitment to strengthening the squad and providing opportunities for injured players to regain their form and fitness.
