Leigh Leopards Injury Update Post Catalans Dragons Victory

Leigh Leopards Provide Injury Update after Catalans Dragons Victory

In the aftermath of their impressive 30-2 triumph over the Catalans Dragons at Leigh Sports Village, Leigh Leopards head coach Adrian Lam has shared a comprehensive update on the fitness of his squad.

The joyous occasion was dampened by the news that prop Dan Norman failed a head injury assessment (HIA) towards the end of the first half, becoming the latest addition to Leigh’s lengthy injury list.

However, the Leopards did welcome back skipper John Asiata, who made a 20-minute appearance after almost two months out with a calf tear sustained in Round 3 against St Helens. Lam is optimistic about the imminent returns of several other key players, including Edwin Ipape, Gareth O’Brien, and Robbie Mulhern, with the coach stating, “It seems like ages ago that they were injured, but it’s come around so quickly.”

Addressing the Norman incident, Lam said the 26-year-old Ireland international “errors in the tackle and gets concussed from it, so that makes him miss next week’s game.” While disappointed with the setback, the Leopards boss is confident the team will “move on with that quickly.”

Lam also provided an update on the availability of new signing Darnell McIntosh, who was not included in the squad for the Catalans clash. The versatile back was kept out due to limited training time with the team, but Lam hinted at his potential inclusion in the near future, stating, “It’ll be hard to fit him in there somewhere, but we’ll find a way whether it’s next week or the week after.”

With the Leopards’ injury situation improving and new talent being integrated, the club will be eager to build on their impressive win over the Dragons as they look to cement their position in the rugby league standings.
