Hull KR Sign Danny Richardson on Loan from Castleford Tigers, Swapping with Ben Reynolds to Hull FC
In a mid-season loan deal, Hull KR have secured the services of half-back Danny Richardson from Castleford Tigers. Simultaneously, Ben Reynolds, who joined Hull KR on a two-year contract in February, will head to Hull FC on a temporary basis for the remainder of the 2024 season.
The move comes after Love Rugby League reported last month that Castleford were open to allowing Richardson, a former England Knights international, to go out on loan. The 27-year-old, who was named in the Super League Dream Team in 2018, has scored 10 tries and kicked 175 goals in 59 appearances for his parent club St Helens before joining Castleford in 2020.
“We’re pleased to add someone of Ben’s quality and experience to our ranks for the rest of the season. Half-back is a position we’ve been keen to strengthen, and Ben’s attributes, particularly his kicking game, will complement our existing options of Jake Trueman, Morgan Smith, and Jack Charles,” commented Hull FC’s Director of Rugby Richie Myler.
This loan deal comes on the heels of a permanent player swap between the two Hull clubs earlier this week. Jack Brown has joined Sewell Group Craven Park, while Yusuf Aydin has moved to the MKM Stadium, with both players signing deals until the end of the 2026 season.
The loan moves aim to provide Richardson and Reynolds with increased playing time and opportunities to showcase their skills. Fans of both Hull KR and Hull FC will be eager to see how these mid-season transfers impact the Yorkshire clubs’ fortunes as the 2024 campaign progresses.
