Hull KR to Appeal Sauaso Sue’s One-Match Ban Following Challenge Cup Quarter-Final

On Saturday, Hull KR secured a victory over Leigh Leopards in the Challenge Cup quarter-finals. However, the club has now confirmed their intention to appeal the one-match ban handed to forward Sauaso Sue following a Grade B charge of dangerous contact.

The prop forward’s punishment, which falls at the higher end of the scale and includes potential fines, will be challenged by the Robins. The club announced their plans to attend tomorrow’s Operational Rules Tribunal to contest the grading, with the aim of potentially overturning the ban.

In a statement released via social media, Hull KR declared:

“Hull KR can confirm the club will challenge Sauaso Sue’s one-match penalty notice for ‘Dangerous Contact’ at an appeal tomorrow.”

The Operational Rules Tribunal will also hear cases involving Bayley Sironen of Catalans Dragons and Sylvester Namo of Castleford Tigers. Sironen was charged with a Grade E offense for head contact, which can result in a three to five-game suspension. Namo, on the other hand, faces a Grade F charge for dangerous contact, stemming from a tackle that led to Wigan Warriors’ Willie Isa suffering a dislocated and fractured ankle. Namo could potentially receive a ban of six games or more if found guilty.

The footage of Namo’s tackle has sparked a divided reaction among fans, with discussions around whether the incident warrants such a heavy punishment.
