Huddersfield Giants Secure Promising Young Talent Sam Halsall on Long-Term Deal
Huddersfield, April 11th – In a move to bolster their backline, the Huddersfield Giants have announced the signing of a new long-term contract with rising star Sam Halsall. The 22-year-old outside-back, who joined the club ahead of the 2023 season, has impressed with his performances and will now remain at the John Smith’s Stadium until the end of the 2027 campaign.
Head coach Ian Watson expressed his delight at tying down the young gun, praising Halsall’s professionalism, character, and commitment to the Giants. “Along with Harry Rushton, Sam is another exciting contract extension for the club. He’s a young British player who we’ve wanted to retain, and he’s added quality to this team since he’s joined.”
Halsall, who previously came through the academy at Wigan Warriors, has hit the ground running at Huddersfield. Last season, he registered nine tries in as many appearances, cementing his status as one to watch. The new campaign has seen the youngster continue his fine form, with five tries in four games, including braces against Castleford Tigers and Hull FC.
“There was no doubt in my mind where I wanted to play, they put a lot of belief in me. Ian Watson has been really good to me, so it was an easy call.”
Speaking on the decision to extend his stay, Halsall revealed it was an easy choice. The Giants boss echoed these sentiments, highlighting Halsall’s progression and reliability as key factors in securing his long-term future.
With the talented outside-back now committed to the club until 2027, Huddersfield fans can look forward to witnessing the continued development of this rising star within the rugby league landscape.
