Featherstone Rovers Target Halifax Panthers’ Star Greg Eden

Featherstone Rovers Eyeing Move for Halifax Panthers Star Greg Eden

In a surprising turn of events, Love Rugby League has learned that Featherstone Rovers are considering a move for Halifax Panthers’ prized winger, Greg Eden. The talented player has only been with the Championship club for a few months, having signed during the winter transfer window.

However, as reported by Rugby League Live, Eden appears to be on his way out of the Panthers after consulting the club about a potential release. While there was initial speculation about interest from Super League clubs, Rugby League Live has confirmed that this is not the case. Instead, Eden’s personal circumstances outside of rugby have led him to prefer a part-time arrangement.

Now, a number of Championship clubs have expressed interest in securing Eden’s services, should Halifax be able to find a suitable replacement.

Love Rugby League has learned that James Ford’s Featherstone Rovers are among those clubs monitoring the situation closely. Featherstone Rovers have made a promising start to the new season, winning five of their first seven games and positioning themselves among the early frontrunners in the Championship. The club currently has players like Connor Wynne, Gareth Gale, and Manoa Wacokecoke as their wing options for 2024, but the potential addition of Eden could further strengthen their squad.

A move closer to his roots in Castleford is likely to appeal to Eden, who may see Featherstone as an attractive destination. However, it is important to note that Eden has not yet been released from his Halifax deal, and the Panthers would need to reach an agreement with another club before he can officially depart.

In his time with Liam Finn’s Halifax Panthers, Eden has made nine appearances and scored five tries. But with his future at the club uncertain, the opportunity to join Featherstone Rovers could be a tempting prospect for the talented winger.
