Featherstone Rovers Dedicate Upcoming Fixture to Rob Burrow’s Legacy
In a heartfelt tribute, Featherstone Rovers have announced plans to honor the memory of renowned rugby league player Rob Burrow during their upcoming fixtures.
Burrow’s funeral, scheduled for this Sunday, will be attended by thousands paying their respects to the former Leeds Rhinos star, who sadly passed away last month after a courageous battle with Motor Neurone Disease (MND). To commemorate Burrow’s legacy, Rovers will hold a 77-second applause prior to their Championship match against Whitehaven on the same day.
Furthermore, the club has confirmed that their July 20 fixture against Doncaster at the Millennium Stadium will be a dedicated celebration of Burrow’s life. As part of the extensive tributes, Featherstone players will don a limited-edition MND awareness shirt, featuring Burrow’s signature. A total of 777 shirts have been produced, each bearing a unique numbered order.
Burrow’s close friend and former teammate, Kevin Sinfield, is expected to attend the funeral before swiftly returning to England’s rugby union tour of New Zealand, where he is currently serving as a coach.
The rugby league community continues to rally behind Burrow’s inspiring story, which has captivated the nation and raised millions of pounds in support of those living with MND.
