Leigh Leopards Coach Adrian Lam Commits to Long-Term Deal
On Tuesday, Adrian Lam, the coach of the Leigh Leopards, met with the media to discuss his recent decision to sign a new long-term deal with the Super League club. Lam had previously held talks with Hull FC about becoming their new head coach, but ultimately chose to remain at Leigh.
Lam’s long-term vision for the Leopards is one of continuous improvement and evolution. Arriving at the club during their Championship campaign, Lam had the task of rebuilding the squad, which he felt he accomplished reasonably well. The team’s subsequent promotion to Super League, accompanied by trophy wins in the AB Sundecks 1895 Cup, League Leaders’ Shield, and Grand Final, was a testament to their progress.
Despite the challenges of the current season, including the absence of key player John Asiata, Lam remains excited about the team’s future. He acknowledges that there will likely be significant squad changes at the end of the year, as part of a deliberate plan to introduce youth, size, and speed to the group. Lam’s goal is to preserve the Leopards’ identity as a “really difficult team to play against,” while also continuing to grow the club’s fanbase and strengthening the positive working relationships within the organization.

Regarding recruitment and retention, Lam is prepared for a transitional period, with some players departing at the end of the season. However, he sees this as an opportunity to reshape the squad, blending experienced leaders with promising young talent. The coach is confident that his long-term commitment to the club will provide stability and confidence to the players.
Lam is eager to see the team’s progress unfold, with a particular focus on the upcoming match against Huddersfield this Friday. He believes the Leopards have a different story yet to be told this season, and he is excited about the club’s long-term vision, which extends well beyond his own tenure.
