Rugby League Power Rankings: Wigan Warriors Maintain Top Spot, Oldham and St Helens Make Moves
The latest edition of the Love Rugby League Power Rankings has arrived, providing an insightful look at the top 10 clubs in the British game based on their on-field performances.
In the top spot, the mighty Wigan Warriors have retained their position at the summit, thanks to a comfortable 36-14 victory over Castleford Tigers. Matt Peet’s side have been impressive in 2024, sitting third in the Super League table and only trailing leaders Catalans Dragons by two points, with a game in hand.
Sheffield Eagles have climbed to second place, the highest-ranked club from the Championship or League 1. Mark Aston’s team picked up an astonishing 46-0 win over Halifax, cementing their position as a force to be reckoned with in the second tier.
Warrington Wolves have also made strides, climbing one place to third after securing a narrow 16-14 home win over Leigh. The Sam Burgess era is off to a strong start at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, with the Wolves currently sitting fourth in Super League and reaching the Challenge Cup semi-finals.
Elsewhere, Huddersfield Giants have moved up one spot to fifth following their 30-24 triumph over Leeds Rhinos, which was their first win at Headingley in six years. Consistency remains an issue for Ian Watson’s side, but their recent form has been impressive.
In the lower reaches of the top 10, Oldham have held onto 10th place despite not playing a game at the weekend, while St Helens have re-entered the rankings at ninth after their emphatic 58-0 victory over a youthful Hull FC side.
