Leeds Rhinos Coach Provides Injury Update Ahead of Huddersfield Clash
Leeds Rhinos’ head coach [Rohan Smith] has shared an update on his team’s injury concerns as they prepare to face the [Huddersfield Giants] this Friday. Despite having a week off after their early Challenge Cup exit, the Rhinos are still battling to get several key players back to full fitness.
Two players were forced off the field during the recent loss to [Warrington Wolves] – centre [Ash Handley] with a rib cartilage issue and prop [Tom Holroyd], who is still working his way through the concussion protocol. Smith confirmed that Handley “won’t be available this week” as the rib injury remains “pretty painful”, while Holroyd has “not progressed quickly enough” and will also miss the Huddersfield match.

Additionally, forward [James Bentley] is another player who has been affected by concussion symptoms and is not expected to return in the next couple of weeks.
However, there is some good news for the Rhinos, with winger [David Fusitu’a] set to make a “timely return” after training fully this week. Smith is excited about the prospect of Fusitu’a linking up again with centre [Harry Newman], praising their “good partnership on and off the field” and the aerial and carrying threat they can pose together.
Despite the injury setbacks, Smith is confident his squad can cope, having recalled young forward [Leon Ruan] from Doncaster to help bolster the pack for the Huddersfield clash.
