England Men’s and Women’s Rugby League Sides to Face Off Against France in Toulouse Doubleheader
In a highly anticipated event, the Rugby Football League (RFL) has confirmed that England’s men’s and women’s rugby league teams will take on their French counterparts in a double-header clash in Toulouse on June 29th. This fixture will coincide with the French Rugby League’s (FFR XIII) 90th-anniversary celebrations of the sport in the republic.
England Women’s and Men’s Teams Prepare for Tough Challenges
The England women’s team will kick things off at 3:30 pm local time, followed by the men’s international match at 6 pm. Both fixtures will be streamed live on Super League+, the sport’s global, direct-to-consumer streaming platform.
Last year, the England sides dominated their French rivals, with both the men’s and women’s teams securing convincing 64-0 victories in mid-season internationals held at Warrington. However, the previous encounters in France in 2021 were much closer, with the men winning 30-10 in Perpignan and the women prevailing 40-4.
“Rugby League in France has a rich and proud history, and the Men’s international side first played England in Paris in 1934. I am delighted that our England sides have been invited be part of the 90th anniversary celebrations.” – RFL Chairman Simon Johnson
Excitement Builds for Toulouse Doubleheader and Beyond
Rhodri Jones, the RFL’s Commercial Managing Director, also highlighted the importance of the live streaming on Super League+, saying, “I’m sure that there will be plenty of England supporters inside the Stade Ernest-Wallon to cheer on our Men and Women, and I’m thrilled that those supporters who can’t be there will be able to follow the action on Super League+.”
The weekend in Toulouse will also feature a Championship fixture between Toulouse Olympique and Featherstone Rovers. Additionally, the RFL has confirmed that the France Under 19s will travel to Warrington’s Halliwell Jones Stadium on July 2nd to take on the England Academy side.
