Leigh Leopards Roar Into Super League Play-Off Semi-Finals After Gritty Win Over Salford Red Devils
The Leigh Leopards secured a hard-fought 14-6 victory over Salford Red Devils on Friday night, booking their spot in the Super League play-off semi-finals.
Heading into the break with a 2-0 deficit, the visitors sprung into action in the second half. Quick-fire tries from Josh Charnley and Gareth O’Brien, along with a conversion from Matt Moylan, put the Leopards 10-2 up. Edwin Ipape then powered over for a try of his own, extending their lead to 12 points.

Despite the disappointment of their campaign ending, it has been a hugely positive year for Salford. Embracing the underdog tag, Paul Rowley’s side secured a top-four finish on a limited budget, with several players earning Dream Team selections.
The match was not without its controversies, as the lack of action taken against Salford’s Tim Lafai for his collision with Frankie Halton, which resulted in the Leopards forward failing a HIA, drew scrutiny from the Sky Sports pundits.
Leigh’s progression has come at a cost, however, with back-rower Kai O’Donnell’s availability in doubt due to abdominal issues, and Halton and the injured Josh Charnley potentially set to miss the semi-final.
