St Helens’ Makinson Receives Three-Match Ban: Rugby League News Update

Rugby League Results: Saints Star Makinson Hit with Three-Match Ban

In a significant blow to St Helens, star player Tommy Makinson has been handed a hefty three-match suspension by the Super League’s Match Review Panel. The decision comes after Makinson was shown a straight red card for a high tackle on Tyrone May during the Saints’ heavy defeat at home to Hull KR last Saturday.

Makinson was charged with a Grade D Head Contact offense, leading to the three-game ban and a £250 fine. He will now miss crucial fixtures against Huddersfield Giants, Warrington Wolves, and Castleford Tigers as St Helens aim to preserve their place in the Super League’s top six.

Meanwhile, Hull KR forward James Batchelor has also been hit with a one-match ban following a Grade B Dangerous Contact charge during the Robins’ win over St Helens. Leigh Leopards captain John Asiata has also been handed a one-match suspension for a Grade C Dangerous Contact incident in their victory over London Broncos.

“The full list of players charged this week includes Kelepi Tanginoa (Hull KR), Elliot Minchella (Hull KR), James Batchelor (Hull KR), Tommy Makinson (St Helens), Patrick Mago (Wigan Warriors), John Asiata (Leigh Leopards), and Rob Butler (London Broncos).”

This weekend’s Super League action sees Salford Red Devils and Hull KR well-represented in the Team of the Week, while several high-profile players face suspensions, including stars from Wigan Warriors and St Helens. The Power Rankings have also seen some notable changes, with Hull KR climbing to the top spot and form teams from the Championship making their presence felt.
