Rugby League News: Wigan Warriors Lend Young Prop to Hull FC
Wigan Warriors coach Matt Peet has confirmed that 21-year-old prop Sam Eseh will join Hull FC on loan for the remainder of the 2024 Super League season. Eseh, who signed a two-year deal with the Warriors from Wakefield Trinity in the off-season, is yet to make his first-team debut for Wigan.
However, the young prop has gained valuable Super League experience through loan spells with Castleford Tigers and Leeds Rhinos earlier this year, making five appearances for the latter. Peet revealed that Wigan have a recall option on Eseh, should they require his services over the final two months of the campaign.
“He’s going to Hull,” Peet said. “It’s indefinitely so we have got the opportunity to call him back, but we brought him back (from Leeds) with a view to that we might need him in this period (of three games in 10 days), but we came through that Huddersfield game pretty healthy so we’ve given him that opportunity, but we’re aware that we might need him back at some point.”
Eseh’s loan move to Hull FC will see him join his fellow Wigan team-mate Tiaki Chan, who is also on loan with Simon Grix’s side. Meanwhile, the Warriors will travel to Headingley to face Leeds Rhinos on Saturday, their third game in just 10 days.
