Rugby League: Franklin Pele Joins Bradford Bulls After Hull FC Release, Debuts with Sin Bin
Prop forward Franklin Pele has quickly found a new home after being released from Hull FC, joining the Bradford Bulls in the Championship. However, Pele’s debut for the Bulls was a familiar story, as he found himself sin-binned just like on his Super League debut with Hull FC.
Pele’s time at Hull FC was marked by a memorable impact on the field, both positive and negative. On his Super League debut, the forward delivered a huge legal shot on Hull KR captain Elliot Minchella, only to follow it up with an illegal swinging arm to the face. This mix of physicality and indiscipline seemed to sum up Pele’s stint at the MKM Stadium, which ultimately resulted in the club releasing him in the past fortnight.
Despite the unceremonious end to his time at Hull FC, Pele has wasted no time in securing a new opportunity, becoming the third player from the Super League club to join the Bradford Bulls this season, alongside Liam Tindall and Jayden Okunbor.
“Pele was a bit unlucky” and praised his overall impact, saying the prop “did what he does, playing with a smile on his face.”
On his debut for the Bulls, Pele once again found himself in the sin bin, this time in the 44th minute for an alleged high shot. However, head coach Eamon O’Carroll questioned the decision, noting that Pele “was a bit unlucky” and praised his overall impact, saying the prop “did what he does, playing with a smile on his face.”
Importantly, Pele seemed to thrive in the welcoming environment at Bradford, with the fans enthusiastically cheering him on every time he touched the ball – a stark contrast to his experience at Hull FC. O’Carroll acknowledged this, saying Pele “has just said to me that ‘It’s nice to hear a nice chant about me’ so he’s happy.”
The Bulls registered a 38-12 win over their opponents, with fellow debutant Max Lehmann scoring the first try of the game. O’Carroll also highlighted the impressive performances of Elliot Peposhi and Lehmann, alongside Pele’s impact.
Despite the sin bin incident, it seems that Franklin Pele has found a fresh start at the Bradford Bulls, where he can showcase his talents and thrive in a more supportive environment.
