Clubs Busy With Transfer Business During International Break
As the Super League season takes a break for international fixtures, clubs are seizing the opportunity to assess their rosters and complete crucial transfer business before the campaign enters the final stretch.
Earlier today, reports emerged that the Leigh Leopards have made significant progress in their pursuit to sign David Armstrong from the NRL. Additionally, the move of Cam Scott from Hull FC to Wakefield Trinity for the 2025 season has been officially confirmed.
Wingers in High Demand
Wingers remain a highly sought-after commodity, with several Super League sides actively seeking new wide players. While St Helens will lose Tommy Makinson to the Catalans Dragons, the French club will also bid farewell to Tom Davies and Tom Johnstone, who are set to join Hull KR and Wakefield respectively. However, it appears that one Super League target will remain in the NRL for the 2025 season, as the Sydney Roosters are poised to offer the player a new contract.
“I’m still in the middle of it getting sorted, so I’ll leave it with my manager and hopefully it’s sorted soon.”
Tupou to Stay in the NRL
Australian and Tongan international Daniel Tupou has been a prolific try-scorer throughout his NRL career, amassing 152 tries in 254 appearances and winning three NRL Premierships and a World Club Challenge trophy. Tupou was previously linked with a move to the Catalans Dragons, alongside Leeds winger Ash Handley and New Zealand Warriors winger Dallin-Watene Zalazniak, as the French club sought to bolster their attacking prowess. However, according to a report in the Daily Telegraph in Australia, Tupou is now expected to extend his stay with the Sydney Roosters.
Catalans Dragons Seeking Alternatives
With Tupou poised to remain in the NRL, the Catalans Dragons will likely turn their attention to Canberra Raiders player Nick Cotric to fill the void left by Johnstone and Davies. Meanwhile, St Helens’ Tommy Makinson will join the Dragons’ wing ranks.
