Hull FC Bolster Youth Development with Coaching Appointment
As the Super League season continues, Hull FC’s performances on the field have been on the upward trajectory after a challenging start. The Black and Whites secured their second win of the campaign against the Leeds Rhinos last weekend, though they suffered a narrow defeat against the Warrington Wolves yesterday.
Since the departure of Tony Smith in April and the subsequent appointment of Richie Myler as Director of Rugby, the club has been working on rebuilding both on and off the field. Coach John Cartwright is set to join the club for the 2025 season, inheriting a side buoyed by the emergence of talented local players like Logan Moy, Lewis Martin, and Devine Balmforth.
To further strengthen their youth development, Hull FC have now announced the appointment of Richard Tate as their new Head of Youth. Tate, who first worked with the club in 2014, returns to oversee the club’s expanding Centre of Excellence program and their entire youth system.
In the official club statement, Tate expressed his pride in taking on the role, stating, “It’s a real honour to be given the opportunity to be the Head of Youth at a club the size of Hull FC.” He emphasized his focus on not only developing the players’ rugby skills but also instilling valuable life skills to help them represent the club in the best possible way.
Director of Rugby Richie Myler lauded Tate as “one of the most well-respected figures in youth Rugby League” and believes his leadership will help the club continue to produce the stars of the future through their Centre of Excellence.
This latest coaching appointment is part of Hull FC’s ongoing efforts to rebuild and strengthen the club, with the aim of instilling the right attitude and mindset in their young talent as they navigate the challenges of the Super League season.
