Rugby League News: Jayden Okunbor’s Extended Stay with Bradford Bulls
Hull FC’s Jayden Okunbor has struggled to settle since his transfer to the UK, but the club has now confirmed that his loan spell with the Bradford Bulls will be extended. Okunbor joined the Super League club in the offseason, having previously played 45 games in the NRL with the Canterbury Bulldogs.
Okunbor’s Loan Extension
- So far this season, Okunbor has featured seven times for Hull FC in the Super League, but he fell out of favor after the departure of Tony Smith, managing only one try.
- In May, Okunbor joined the Bulls on an initial short-term deal, alongside his Hull FC teammate.
- The Bradford Bulls have now announced that Okunbor’s loan deal has been extended for another four weeks.
- The club’s statement praised Okunbor’s impressive debut against Sheffield Eagles and his key role in the recent win over Barrow Raiders, where he scored and assisted.
Praise from Bradford Head Coach
“Bradford head coach Eamon O’Carroll expressed his delight at Okunbor’s continued presence, stating that the player has been a ‘real positive influence’ on the group and is improving with each passing week. The coach also thanked Hull FC’s Adam Pearson and Richie Myler for their support in allowing Okunbor to work with the Bulls.”
This extended loan spell will provide Okunbor with the opportunity to gain more playing time and experience in the Championship, as he looks to solidify his position and make a stronger impact upon his return to the Super League with Hull FC.
