Rugby League News Update: Team Changes Ahead of Round 14 Fixtures
As the Super League enters its 14th round, the team news for the three Friday night fixtures has been confirmed, revealing some surprise omissions and potential debutants.
Castleford Tigers vs. Wigan Warriors
Castleford Tigers, fresh off their rest, will host the Challenge Cup winners, Wigan Warriors, at Wheldon Road. The Tigers will be without their leadership duo, Paul McShane and Joe Westerman, who were not included in the 21-man squad. However, prop Matty English, on a two-week loan from Huddersfield Giants, has been named and could make his debut for a side other than the Giants. Samy Kibula is the only other change to Castleford’s lineup. Wigan, fresh off their trophy success, have just one change, with fullback Jai Field dropping out and being replaced by Jack Farrimond.
Hull KR vs. Huddersfield Giants
Elsewhere, a packed Craven Park will host a clash between Hull KR and Huddersfield Giants. The Robins have made just one change, with young academy graduate centre Louix Gorman replacing Connor Barley. The Giants, who have struggled with form recently, have also made a single change, with Leroy Cudjoe missing out due to a minor injury, and Adam Milner coming in.
Warrington Wolves vs. Salford Red Devils
The final Friday night fixture sees the Warrington Wolves, still reeling from their Wembley defeat, take on the Salford Red Devils. The Wolves will be without Jordan Crowther and Lachlan Fitzgibbon, who picked up ankle and back injuries respectively in the Challenge Cup final. Arron Lindop and Tom Whitehead have been named in the 21-man squad as a result. Salford, meanwhile, have the potential for some new faces, with Loghan Lewis, a loose-forward joining from Canberra Raiders in the NRL, in line to make his debut. Harvey Wilson could also make his first appearance, while Nene Macdonald returns from a knee injury.
