Wigan Warriors, One of Super League’s Most Successful Clubs, Set for Stadium Rebrand
Wigan Warriors, a dominant force in the Super League, are poised to see their iconic home ground undergo a significant name change in the coming days. The DW Stadium, which has long been synonymous with the Cherry and Whites, will be rebranded as the Brick Community Stadium.
Wigan Warriors, like several other Super League clubs, share their stadium with the local football team. This arrangement has at times presented challenges, as the football sides often boast greater fan support and attendance. However, the Warriors have managed to make the DW Stadium a true emblem of their brand and the pride of the town.
The renaming, set to take effect on Monday, May 13th, marks a new partnership between the club and a local charity, The Brick. This organization has been a cornerstone of the Wigan community for over a century, working tirelessly to address poverty and homelessness in the region.
“The Brick charity has been a cornerstone of Wigan, transforming and influencing countless lives over many years. Naming the stadium in Wigan after their charity is a suitable tribute to their significant impact on the community.”
- Kris Radlinski, Wigan Warriors’ Chief Executive
The transition to the Brick Community Stadium will not immediately impact the Warriors’ home fixtures, as they are set to face Huddersfield Giants on the road this Saturday. Fans will have to wait until June 21st to witness the team’s first match at the newly renamed venue.
While the DW Stadium has long been a fixture in the Super League landscape, this rebranding represents an exciting new chapter for Wigan Warriors and their deep-rooted connection to the local community.
