Wigan Warriors Face Setback with Player Bans Before Challenge Cup Final

Wigan Warriors Suffer Double Blow Ahead of Challenge Cup Final

In a significant blow to their preparations, Wigan Warriors have confirmed that two of their first-team players will be banned for the upcoming Challenge Cup Final against Warrington Wolves on Saturday.

Adam Keighran and Tyler Dupree have both been handed three-game suspensions and £250 fines for Grade D charges following their side’s Super League clash with Warrington last weekend.

Keighran was sent off for a high shot on Arron Lindop, while Dupree was cited for head-butting Sam Powell while on the ground during the play-the-ball situation. These suspensions will see the key players miss the highly anticipated Wembley showdown, although Wigan Warriors have the right to appeal, which they are likely to pursue at an Operational Rules Tribunal scheduled for tomorrow evening.

The loss of two crucial members of their squad is a significant setback for Wigan Warriors ahead of the Challenge Cup Final. However, Warrington Wolves managed to escape the fixture without any bans, making the challenge for the Cherry and Whites even more daunting.

Elsewhere, Sheffield Eagles’ Matty Marsh was handed a two-game suspension and £125 fine for a dangerous throw/lift, and he too will have the opportunity to appeal the decision at the Operational Rules Tribunal.
