Wigan Warriors Face Discipline Concerns After Adam Keighran’s Sending Off
Wigan Warriors have emerged as one of the most ill-disciplined teams in the 2024 Super League season, following Australian centre Adam Keighran’s recent sending off against Warrington Wolves. This was the second red card shown to a Warriors player this year, with Liam Byrne also receiving an early bath in their Good Friday defeat against St Helens.
Adding in the five yellow cards picked up by Matt Peet’s side over the course of their opening 12 league games, Wigan’s card tally now stands at seven. Considering that most other clubs have played one more match and received fewer cards, this highlights a concerning trend of indiscipline creeping into the usually well-disciplined Cherry & Whites.

Only five teams, including Leigh Leopards and Leeds Rhinos, are yet to receive a red card, while Castleford Tigers remain the sole club without a single yellow card. Sitting alongside St Helens with two red cards each, Wigan Warriors are among the four clubs with the highest disciplinary records so far. However, it is Hull FC who top the overall card table, having accumulated 11 cards (8 yellows, 3 reds) by Round 2.
As the 2024 Super League season progresses, the Warriors will need to address their disciplinary issues to avoid further setbacks and maintain their position as one of the better-disciplined sides in recent years under Peet’s guidance.
