Wigan Warriors CEO Kris Radlinski Backs Leigh Leopards for Late Playoff Push
Wigan Warriors CEO Kris Radlinski has tipped the Leigh Leopards as the dark horse team to make a late charge into the Super League playoffs this season. Currently sitting in ninth place with nine points after 12 games, the Leigh Leopards are seven points back from the coveted top-six spots.
Despite their current position, Radlinski believes Adrian Lam’s side have what it takes to turn things around.
“It really is tight at the top. Leigh have not been far off all season. They’ve lost a couple of games by a few points, they’re getting some players back,” he said on The Sportsman YouTube channel.
The Leopards do have a game in hand after their Round Two fixture against Radlinski’s Wigan Warriors was rearranged for early August, meaning they’ll have to play three games in ten days. However, the Wigan chief is confident Leigh can use this challenging schedule to their advantage.
“I almost think, if I was Adrian Lam, I know he’s committed his future, I’ll be saying, ‘Let’s finish this little period of our success together’, and generating this spirit within the group,” Radlinski added. “I wouldn’t be surprised if Leigh turned Catalans over at the weekend and they have a really good run at the playoffs. They’re not far away, them guys.”
While former Sky Sports pundit Eddie Hemmings was less optimistic about Leigh’s chances, noting the significant number of supporters the club has been able to mobilize, Radlinski’s bold prediction suggests the Leopards could be the team to watch in the coming weeks.
