Wests Tigers Shake Up Super League Transfer Market
The Wests Tigers have caused a stir in the Super League transfer market, with reports emerging that several of their star players are available for transfer. Chief Executive Shane Flanagan has reportedly traveled to the UK to offload some of these players, leading to a constant stream of reports surrounding the Tigers’ talent as they look to rebuild.
One of the players reportedly made available by the Tigers is versatile back Brent Naden. Naden, who can play on the wing or in the centres, is currently in his third season with the club, having joined partway through the 2022 season. He has impressed during his time with the Tigers, scoring five tries in his first eight games and amassing a total of 33 tries in his 69 NRL appearances throughout his career. This season, Naden has made six appearances for the Tigers, finding the try line once.
“Prior to joining the Tigers, Naden spent three years with the Penrith Panthers before a short spell with the Canterbury Bulldogs in 2022.”
Recent reports had linked the 26-year-old with potential moves to both Hull KR and the Catalans Dragons in the Super League. However, a report in the Daily Telegraph in Australia has now suggested that the Catalans Dragons are not pursuing a move for Naden. The report states that a contact at the French-based club has confirmed they have no interest in signing the Wests Tigers player.
The Catalans remain in the market for an outside back, following the confirmed departures of their starting wingers Tom Johnstone and Tom Davies at the end of the season. The club has already secured the signing of Tommy Makinson for next season, but they still need to recruit a replacement for the other wing position.
