Warrington Wolves Bounce Back with Dominant Victory over Hull FC
(April 30, 2023 – Warrington, UK) – Warrington Wolves returned to winning ways with a convincing 24-6 triumph over Hull FC at the Halliwell Jones Stadium. Leading the charge for the home side was Josh Thewlis, who bagged a hat-trick of tries.
Sam Burgess’ men bounced back from last week’s defeat to Salford Red Devils in comfortable fashion, easing past the struggling visitors. While it may not have been Warrington’s finest display of the season, there were several standout individual performances.
Australian fullback Matt Dufty put in another impressive shift, making over 250 metres despite playing through an apparent knock for much of the game. However, it was Thewlis who stole the show, scoring 20 of Warrington’s 24 points against Hull.
Toby King and Rodrick Tai also produced solid performances, with the latter making his third appearance for the Wire and delivering his best outing yet. Equally impressive was the display of young Arron Lindop, who at just 18 years old is tipped to be a fixture in the Warrington lineup for years to come.
“England captain George Williams orchestrated the Wolves’ attack, while Josh Drinkwater made a decent return to the side, filling in admirably for the absent Leon Hayes.”
In the pack, Joe Philbin and Matty Nicholson were standouts, with the latter’s relentless work rate and tenacious tackling catching the eye.
The victory sees Warrington extend their winning record to seven victories from 10 matches this season, as they continue their push for a top-place finish.
