Veteran Stefan Ratchford Inks New One-Year Deal with Warrington Wolves
Stefan Ratchford, a beloved figure within the Warrington Wolves organization, has agreed to extend his illustrious 13-year career with the Super League club. The veteran centre, who first joined the Wire from Salford at the end of 2011, has signed a new one-year contract, keeping him at the Halliwell Jones Stadium for the 2025 season.
A true club legend, Ratchford has made over 330 appearances for Warrington, cementing his status as a mainstay within the squad. The 35-year-old, who grew up in the Greater Manchester town of Wigan, has been a versatile asset for the Wire, able to play at fullback, centre, and in the halves.
“Despite finding himself in and out of the starting lineup this season under coach Sam Burgess, Ratchford’s experience and leadership qualities have remained invaluable to the team.”
Although he missed out on the recent Challenge Cup final, where Roderick Tai was preferred in the centres, the seasoned veteran will now have the opportunity to extend his career for at least one more year.
Ratchford’s impressive tenure at Warrington includes four Super League Grand Final appearances and a Challenge Cup triumph in 2019. He has also earned recognition on the international stage, earning six caps for England between 2016 and 2018, and was part of the squad that competed at the 2017 World Cup.
As the Wire look to bounce back from their Challenge Cup final defeat to Wigan Warriors, the retention of a club legend like Stefan Ratchford will undoubtedly provide a boost to their morale and on-field performances in the 2025 season.
