The Latest NRL Action Showcases English Internationals’ Talent
The recent round of the NRL season has showcased the impressive performances of several English internationals, with Victor Radley and John Bateman delivering standout displays.
Victor Radley Shines for Sydney Roosters
Victor Radley, the 26-year-old Roosters star, impressed in his team’s defeat to the Melbourne Storm. He finished as the top metre-maker with an impressive 190 metres from 23 carries. The Sydney-born, England-eligible player also made 36 tackles and 15 hit-ups during his 80-minute outing.
John Bateman’s Best Performance of the Season
John Bateman put in what was arguably his best display of the season so far, playing the full 80 minutes in the Wests Tigers’ loss against the reigning champions, the Penrith Panthers. The Bradfordian made 157 metres from 17 carries, 23 tackles, a try assist, six tackle breaks and 14 hit-ups.
Other British Players Shine
Other British players to feature included Morgan Smithies, who made 32 tackles at 92% efficiency for the Raiders in their defeat to the Brisbane Broncos, and Max King, the Huddersfield-born Bulldogs prop who clocked up 130 metres and 23 tackles in his team’s victory over the Knights.
Kai Pearce-Paul, the towering England international back-rower, also got another 80 minutes under his belt for the Newcastle Knights, making 81 metres, 33 tackles, a try assist, two tackle breaks and an offload.
