The Challenge Cup Quarter-Finals Deliver Thrilling Action
The Challenge Cup quarter-finals delivered thrilling action, with four Super League clubs now just 80 minutes away from the final at Wembley.
Huddersfield, who stunned league leaders Catalans in France, will face Warrington in the semi-finals, after the latter produced a convincing win at St Helens. Wigan enjoyed a heavy victory over a depleted Castleford side and will take on Hull KR in the semis, with the Robins beating Leigh in a rematch of last year’s final.
Several players stood out across the quarter-finals, including Huddersfield’s Jake Connor, who racked up 14 points in their impressive win. Hull KR’s Joe Burgess also impressed, scoring a brace, including a stunning 90-metre solo effort. Experienced Fiji captain Kevin Naiqama continued his fine form for Huddersfield, while Esan Marsters and Liam Marshall also caught the eye for their respective clubs.
“Warrington’s George Williams delivered another masterclass, leading his side to victory over St Helens, and Mikey Lewis was superb for Hull KR.”
Warrington’s forwards, particularly James Harrison and Danny Walker, stepped up in the absence of key players, while Wigan’s Tyler Dupree also made an impact upon his return from suspension.
The semi-finals promise to be closely contested, with the four remaining teams all delivering standout performances in the quarter-finals.
