Super League Clubs Eyeing Veteran Forward Jarrod Wallace
As the Super League recruitment window opens, clubs are actively planning their next moves. While the start has been relatively low-key, teams are carefully considering their options for retention, recruitment, and overseas acquisitions. With quota spots becoming increasingly valuable, clubs are weighing their decisions carefully.
The NRL continues to be a source of interest, and the latest player linked with a move to the UK is veteran forward Jarrod Wallace. The 32-year-old has been a regular in the NRL for over a decade, playing for Brisbane Broncos, Gold Coast Titans, and most recently, the Dolphins. During this period, he also represented the Queensland Maroons six times, establishing himself as one of the leading forwards in the game.
“That (re-signing with the Dolphins) obviously would be my plan. Wayne will be leaving, and I’m sure he’ll still be around, but to be able to stay and play another couple of years under Woolfy, that’s my goal.”
- Jarrod Wallace
As Wallace reaches the twilight of his career and his contract with the Dolphins nears its end, speculation has begun to swirl around his future. Given his age, it appears that Wallace may have limited options in Australia, and a move to Super League has been touted for the 200-game veteran.
Wallace has been linked with a Super League move before, as in 2022, he was reportedly offered to English clubs before ultimately opting to join the Dolphins. Now, with his contract expiring at the end of the season and the current Dolphins head coach, Wayne Bennett, set to depart, Wallace is once again on the radar of Super League clubs.
According to reports in the Courier Mail, Wallace may be allowed to leave the Dolphins when his contract expires. With Bennett’s departure and the arrival of ex-St Helens boss Kristian Woolf as the new head coach, Wallace’s future at the club remains uncertain.
However, as the May window opens, Wallace is yet to be offered a new deal, and it remains to be seen if any Super League clubs will show interest in the experienced forward.
