Standout Rugby League Performances Across Super League Round 7

The latest round of the Super League competition saw a number of exceptional individual displays, making it challenging to select the definitive Team of the Week.

Several players were unlucky to miss out, but here is Love Rugby League’s Team of the Week from Round 7, with six different clubs represented.

1. Jai Field (Wigan Warriors)

The Australian speedster racked up an impressive 212 metres in Wigan’s victory over Leigh, including a spectacular long-range try. Field was a constant threat, making a clean break, busting six tackles, and providing a try assist in a trademark performance. “Wigan boss Matt Peet hailed Field’s ‘unselfish’ display in the rugby league scores,” as the Warriors secured the win.

2. Adam Swift (Huddersfield Giants)

The Huddersfield flyer is in scintillating rugby league form, scoring a hat-trick in the Giants’ big win over his former club Hull FC. Swift also made 139 metres from 17 carries, with three clean breaks and four tackle busts, as well as providing an assist in an excellent all-round performance.

3. Esan Marsters (Huddersfield Giants)

The Cook Islands international has made an exceptional start to the 2024 rugby league season and has been a key player for the Giants. Marsters scored a try and provided an assist in Huddersfield’s demolition of Hull, making 106 metres from 15 carries and busting five tackles.

4. Arthur Romano (Catalans Dragons)

The France international has been a consistent performer for the Dragons, and he was superb in their narrow win over St Helens, making 109 metres from 16 carries to go alongside 14 tackles. “St Helens extended their unwanted record with the defeat at the hands of the Catalans Dragons,” as per the rugby league results.

5. Innes Senior (Castleford Tigers)

The Ireland international scored an incredible four tries to help Castleford secure their first win of the Super League season against Salford. Senior racked up 191 metres from 12 carries, with three clean breaks and eight tackle busts in a standout display.

6. George Williams (Warrington Wolves)

Warrington were in impressive form in their victory over Leeds, with half-back Williams a standout performer. As well as scoring a try and providing an assist, Williams made 102 metres from 22 carries, while also kicking seven times in general play and seven attacking kicks.

7. Mikey Lewis (Hull KR)

The mercurial Hull KR playmaker scored a try and kicked seven goals, amassing 18 personal points in the Robins’ 50-10 thrashing of London Broncos. Lewis made 186 metres from 14 carries and 17 tackles, with eight tackle busts and two clean breaks in a dominant display.

8. James Harrison (Warrington Wolves)

The 27-year-old forward has taken his game to new heights since joining Warrington, and he produced a dominant display in the middle at Headingley in the absence of several frontline Wolves forwards.

9. Alrix Da Costa (Catalans Dragons)

The France international hooker stepped up in the absence of Micky McIlorum, making a remarkable 43 tackles in the middle of the park to help the Dragons secure a narrow win over St Helens in the rugby league scores.

10. Luke Thompson (Wigan Warriors)

The England international is finding his form at Wigan, making 118 metres from 15 carries and 30 tackles in the Warriors’ victory over Leigh, continuing his impressive start to the 2024 rugby league season.

11. Alex Mellor (Castleford Tigers)

The versatile back-rower produced a workmanlike display in Castleford’s win over Salford, making 137 metres and busting six tackles from 21 carries, as well as adding 21 tackles in defence.

12. James Batchelor (Hull KR)

The Hull KR forward has started 2024 in impressive form, scoring two tries and making 11 carries and 32 tackles in the Robins’ rout of London Broncos in the rugby league results.

13. Ben Currie (Warrington Wolves)

Currie’s transition to loose forward has worked wonders, with the England international scouring the man-of-the-match award in Warrington’s impressive 34-8 victory over Leeds, making 17 carries and 25 tackles while showcasing his ball-playing ability.
