Super League’s Biggest Off-Contract Names Absent from Club Lists
As the 2025 rugby league season approaches, the list of off-contract players circulated to clubs by the RFL has revealed some high-profile omissions. Names like Esan Marsters, Sione Mata’utia, and Rhyse Martin are notably absent, indicating they have either been offered new deals by their current clubs or have already signed elsewhere.
The RFL’s annual list details which players’ futures remain undetermined versus those who have received or agreed to contract offers. Over 150 Super League players are set to be out of contract at the end of the current season, and the absence of certain big names from the list points to some significant roster changes on the horizon.
For instance, Zak Hardaker and Tommy Makinson, who have been linked with moves to Hull FC and Catalans Dragons respectively, do not appear on the list – suggesting their new arrangements have already been finalized. Similarly, Matty Storton’s omission aligns with his confirmed switch to Wakefield next year.
Other notable absentees include Warrington captain Stefan Ratchford, as well as St Helens’ Konrad Hurrell and Sione Mata’utia, potentially indicating they have secured contract extensions with their current clubs. Giants stars Esan Marsters, Tui Lolohea, and Luke Yates are also missing, hinting at off-season transfers or re-signings.
“With the 2025 season fast approaching, these player movements will be closely watched by rugby league fans eager to see how the competitive landscape shapes up across the Super League.”
